The Elite Lingual Orthodontic Study Club, Inc. (ELOS) is a nationally-recognized association of orthodontic practices comprising the top 1% of lingual braces providers in the nation. Membership is by invitation only and there are no other practices in the state of Missouri to have received this invitation. The ELOS is comprised of the biggest names in lingual braces (behind the teeth), and we consider it a huge honor that our experience with lingual treatment has earned us membership into this esteemed association.
Before 1995, practically the only way to straighten teeth was with metal braces. For many adults, the cosmetic appearance of traditional braces is a major obstacle to pursuing orthodontic treatment. Today, with the advancements in computers and robotic technology, we are able to offer patients a unique service that few offices can provide. Lingual braces are our most cosmetic and advanced treatment option, and they offer a great alternative to traditional braces. Lingual braces are also appealing to patients interested in removable aligners like Invisalign® who feel they might struggle to remember to wear the trays. Clear aligners are a wonderful option for patients committed to wearing them, but they only work when they’re being worn – they don’t work when they’re in a pocket or on the nightstand. Lingual braces are glued to the teeth so patients can’t forget to wear them – they’re always working!
We often hear patients comment that they’ve never heard of lingual braces before. The reason that most people haven’t heard of lingual braces is because very few practices offer them. In fact, less than 2% of orthodontists regularly treat with lingual appliances and many of those only do so in a very limited amount. Lingual braces have a steep learning curve and are much more complex than traditional braces, requiring extensive doctor and staff training. Without proper training and experience, it’s difficult to treat patients and get acceptable results with lingual braces. ELOS is comprised of orthodontists who have made the commitment to treating patients with lingual braces – it’s the best-of-the-best! In our practice, we start over 100 lingual patients per year and have made lingual treatment a great and predictable option with consistently outstanding results. In addition, our doctors have lectured internationally on lingual braces and are clinical instructors for SureSmile® training courses that teach lingual orthodontics. Our doctors and staff consider it a great honor and accomplishment to have been selected for membership into this distinguished group.
The ELOS website is a format for the public to learn more about lingual braces and how they compare to other treatments. For individuals wishing to gain more information about lingual braces, a doctor locator is available to help locate the nearest ELOS member.
